AMD reported to renew the current Brazos platform, which will be named Brazos 2.0 and introduces a new series APUs, it will launch in the first quarter of 2012. with some graphical improvements enhanced.
The new platform will be created around a series of series Zacate APUs to be known as E2 and E1-1800-1200. The first is a slightly improved version of the current E-450 accelerated processing unit launched earlier this quarter and that packages of the same two processing cores than its predecessor, but with a clock speed of 1.7 GHz base. The GPU on the chip is re-branded version of the Radeon HD 6320 used in the original E-450, but this has now received a 523MHz clock speed of 680MHz and maximum values as Turbo HD coming 7340, according to ComputerBase.
Turning to his younger brother, the E1-1200, AMD has designed this APU to take the place of the E-300 and will increase the frequency 100 MHz to work at 1.4GHz, and an on-chip HD 7310 GPU has a 12 MHz overclock negligible compared to its predecessor.
Besides the new APU, Brazos 2.0 platform also includes a new mobile chipset called A68M code or name Hudson M3L.
Compared with the current FCH A50M this was designed to reduce energy consumption, so it has a number of features disabled, such as support for six SATA ports and 14 USB 2.0 ports. Instead, the chipset gets only a couple of SATA 6 Gbps and eight USB 2.0, USB 1.1 while the two were replaced by a pair of USB 3.0 ports. Other features of FCH new APU include a fan control unit and an SD controller.
Both the new APU and chipset that make the Brazos 2.0 platform will be officially launched in the first quarter of 2012.
