Although CES and all the attention it requires, NVIDIA has silently introduced a couple of new graphics processing units, They are called GeForce GT 710M and 730m and should replace the 640M and 620M, despite the inconsistencies of names.

The GeForce GT 730m, actually a GK107 GPU, is actually a brand new GeForce 640M, but with better performance (most likely). That suggests that the basic characteristics remain the same: 384 CUDA cores, 32 texture units and 16 ROPs, a memory interface of 128 bits and a transistor count of 1.17 billion.

The amount of memory can vary from laptop to laptop. In fact, as the M in the name implies, it is mobile GPUs for notebooks, but not show too often because most laptops today, especially Ultrabooks have CPU with integrated graphics. Moreover, if a mobile GPU is part of the hardware configuration, generally is one stronger, with clear advantages over the Intel HD 4000. However, there may come a time when a low-end GPU is required, so NVIDIA chips rebranding still annoying as these two.

The second GPU, GeForce 710M, is a renowned GF117, a Fermi everything. It lacks the label and probably GT has 96 CUDA cores, 16 texture units, 4 ROPs, memory interface of 128-bit and 585 million transistors. Both chips are based on the process of manufacture of 28nm and is only the first of many renowned Fermi Kepler and products. Over time, we should add NVIDIA specifications GeForce.com website.
