In the third quarter of 2012, Intel is rumored to be updating the processor range to feature new series of Pentium chip architecture based on the upcoming Ivy Bridge company that will bring a number of improvements over the current core SNB.

Details about the processor that rare at the moment, but previous reports have revealed that for the next iteration of the Pentium line, Intel will use the new naming scheme that moves from three to four-digit designation.

As a result, the new CPU will be released to the Pentium G2000-series, but the other specs have changed some of their colleagues Sandy Bridge, apart from the TDP to be assessed at 55W, 65W compared to the current Pentium CPUs.

Does this mean that the Pentium processor will still include two computing cores and 3MB of Level 3 cache, while less support for more advanced features such as Hyper-Threading or Turbo Boost. Support for AES-NI and AVX instruction set is not included, as are video transcoding technology QuickSync limited to the more expensive Intel Core.

We also do not know if the Pentium G2000 will get a new GPU improvements that Intel is expected to bring with Ivy Bridge, but there is a strong likelihood that support DirectX 11 will make its way to the line of Pentium CPUs. According to Fudzilla, the upcoming Ivy Bridge Pentium processors will inherit the price tag of the G860 and G850 current CPU, but will give better performance.

Ivy Bridge is the code name used for the 22nm die shrink of Sandy Bridge chips today and features basically the same architecture, but with some minor tweaks and improvements, including updated PCI Express 3.0 controllers and support for DirectX 11.
